Mao Koizumi
Hope for the best,
Mao seems to be a socially easygoing and amiable person. She's not one to seek out conflict, and would usually just rather go with the flow. She does not like to be the center of attention. Because of this, she tends to fall in with the more boisterous sort that prefer the spotlight...well, as long as they're nice people. It is not that she prefers them, but two soft-spoken people can often quiet themselves into an awkward silence...
She can seem a bit aloof and disconnected, as her priorities mostly live at home and not at school. Mao often has trouble finding time for a social life. Realizing this, she has gotten into the habit of not letting people any closer than she wants them.
Mao is a bit of an idealist. She tends to see the best of people she likes, and tends to hold them to high standards without realizing it. If they break those, she finds she has a hard time trusting again. She tends to categorize people into those she can trust, and those she can't.
To people who feel they need a very present, involved friend, Mao would probably seem like a flake.
Prepare for the worst,
To people who feel they need a very present, involved friend, Mao would probably seem like a flake. She's not keen on sharing her home situation and the fact that she has a kid. She is not very open - and often fairly tired - and may seem dull.
The thought of leaving herself exposed is a bit terrifying for Mao. Having lived out the later stages of her pregnancy at her old high school, Mao fears that she would experience similar cruelty if her reputation as a teen mother spread through the school.
Mao can be very frigid towards people she doesn't like. While not openly aggressive, she can hold a nasty grudge. Tends to just avoid them.
And always keep your heart in check.
Mao has only been in one serious relationship in her life. It definitely wasn't the smartest thing she ever did. The guy was a serious tool, and she refused to see it until it was too late. She was left with a baby and a broken heart. It's like a bad country song.
While she has healed considerably since then, Mao's still gun-shy and isn't really into the thought of being in a relationship. She keeps her guard up around guys, especially those who seem interested.
As for her own feelings, Mao tends to over-rationalize. She keeps things on a purely platonic level and ignores flirting. She knows most high-school guys would not want to date a girl with a baby, and doesn't want to get attached if it will just hurt later.
Relationshippy bits are welcome, but keep in mind that Mao has only been attending for a few weeks.
